Below are some pictures of our "training walk"
held on Saturday as part of our preparations for the coast-to-coast walk
across Somerset and Dorset.
The training walk took us from Staunton Harold Reservoir via Calke Park, down
to Ashby and along the Ivanhoe Way up to Staunton Harold and back to the
Reservoir, around 15 miles in all. Everyone coped very well with the
distance, and even a prolonged shower in the afternoon failed to dampen our
enthusiasm. The training also included a stop for a cream-tea - essential preparation
for walking in South West England, but unfortunately no pub stop, so we'll
have to practise consumption of scrumpy another time!
