New Year Walk 2007 around Yoxall 07.01.07

This year's New Year walk was an eight-mile circuit around the Yoxall area, starting at St Peter's School, and taking in no fewer than six of our previous work sites en route, including Jerusalem Hill steps and Yoxall Lodge.  Also, on the way, Lynn very kindly invited us in to her house for hot soup, drinks and some leftover party snacks, as well as a bit of welcome shelter from the intermittent showers!  When planning the route, I honestly had no idea that Lynn happened to live exactly half way around the walk, and in the end we couldn't have planned it better, as it turned out to be an ideal resting place. Many thanks to Lynn and Mike for their hospitality.

Despite the weather (which didn't turn out to be anywhere near as wet in the end as the forecast had predicted), we had 15 people on the walk – a good turnout.

In case you're wondering, the six sites visited were:

1)     St Peter's School, Yoxall (where we installed the pond a few years ago, and more recently did some clearance work on the pond and wildlife area)

2)     Jerusalem Hill steps (constructed over three sessions in the summer of 2006)

3)     Bond End footpath (two gates installed in 2003)

4)     Old Yoxall Bridge (new nature area and benches near the river, Jan 2006)

5)     Yoxall Lodge (large bridge installed Nov 2006, and an even bigger one to be done later this month!)

6)     Longcroft Lane gate, Yoxall (installed in 2003)
